Drug

DO YOU KNOW THAT DRIVING A GUN IS A CRIME?

WE 4 YOU
ASTM-SIAS Motorway Operators have undertaken to design, construct and manage high-quality roads so that they can be safe and comfortable. However, no road is straight enough when you took drugs that are likely to alter your consciousness. Driving when your senses are altered is more than a risky BEHAVIOUR: it's a criminal attitude. Be careful even when you take small quantities of narcotics, because they can slow down your response. The Road Police fights said behaviours as totally opposing common sense, if not criminal, with very strict controls.

When?
Whenever you are about to drive.
What?
Never drive under the influence of drugs or narcotics: avoid it. Let others drive or stop to have a good rest.
Why?
The use of drugs decreases your mental abilities, reduces your concentration and your ability to assess distances and speeds. Your vision is reduced both frontally and laterally, and your sensitivity to dazzling in night driving is increased.
Drugs are likely to slow down or even hinder your response and can induce hallucinations. The latter cause reckless reactions to unforeseeing situations, even imaginary ones, thereby entailing serious risks for you and the other users.

Sleepy ... Maybe you make it.

DO YOU REALLY MEAN TO BET YOUR FRIENDS' LIVES TO FIND IT OUT?

WE 4 YOU
When you drive, you'd better be "off alone than in bad company". Remember: when "weariness" is your travel mate, then you're in very bad company.
This is why Motorway Operators designed rest areas, service stations, parking areas and emergency bays to be located at predetermined distances. Although the Italian territory is rich in mountains and deep valleys, where this kind of safety feature can be barely provided, we dedicate ourselves and our investments in keeping you safe. In return, you are asked to make use of all the means you are offered. Don't wait until it's too late to pull in a service station and have a rest.

When?
Whenever you drive a car you shouldn't be altered by weariness or other factors.
What?
When you drive, you should be completely awake to prevent drowsiness, a sudden trouble which is seldom announced by precursory signs.
At the first signs of weariness, pull immediately in a service station. Have regular rests of 10/20 min every two hours, even if you feel rested.

Why?
Sleep and weariness are among the most insidious enemies of drivers. It is estimated that they are the cause of 15 to 40% of the most serious accidents, most of the times associated with precise concurrent causes, such as alcohol and drugs use or heavy meals. Moreover, numberless accidents are avoided by a whisker. We feel rather classist in saying this but we want only "quick minded" drivers on our motorways. Help us and choose life.

TAKE A STOP

WE 4 YOU

In return, you are asked to make use of all the means you are offered. Don't wait until it's too late to pull in a service station and have a rest.

When?
Especially during long journeys.
What?
Lapses of attention on the motorway, due to, e.g., a sense of drowsiness caused by a combination of repetitive visual stimuli and fatigue, are one of the greatest dangers ever to affect drivers. When you travel long distances, it is appropriate to stop frequently and have short breaks or do some exercises. To train your eyes, read road signs or shift your gaze to various points of the carriageway. If you can't keep your head up or perceive a loss of concentration, even a minimum one, that means you need TO STOP. Rest a bit! Just the time necessary for a 10 or 20 minute rest and then you can drive on.
Why?
The motorway system is designed to be very safe, provided that the drivers are attentive. A slight distraction might cost very dear to you and the other users.

DRINKING IS BAD FOR DRIVERS! DON'T LET THEM DRIVE WHEN THEY DRINK

WE 4 YOU
ASTM-SIAS Motorway Operators have undertaken to design, construct and manage high-quality roads so that they can be safe and comfortable. However, no road is straight enough when you drank too much or took drugs that are likely to alter your consciousness. Driving when your senses are altered is more than a risky BEHAVIOUR: it's a criminal attitude. Be careful even when you drink small quantities of spirits, because they can slow down your response. To fight this phenomenon, the Italian legislation has recently tightened the controls both over hauliers, common drivers under 21, and beginners (drivers in their first three years of class "B" driving license). ASTM-SIAS Motorway Operators support the enforcement of such behaviours because they are against common sense, if not expressely criminal. This is why ASTM-SIAS provides the Road Police authorities with any means to check blood-alcohol rate of drivers.

When?
When you plan to spend a night out with friends.
What?
Find the appointed driver who will not be drinking that evening.
Why?
The use of alcohol and/or drugs decreases your mental abilities, reduces your concentration and your ability to assess distances and speeds. Your vision is reduced both frontally and laterally, and your sensitivity to dazzling in night driving is increased.
Alcohol and drugs slow down or even hinder your response and can induce hallucinations. The latter cause reckless reactions to unforeseeing situations, even imaginary ones, thereby entailing serious risks for you and the other users.
Choosing not to drink for a night and taking turns as an appointed driver represents a responsible and mature behaviour for your own safety and the others'. Many young people have died or were very seriously injured just for one glass too much.
